Eagle Twin

Eagle Twin are an experimental doom metal duo based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. The project formed in 2007, featuring Gentry Densley (Iceburn, Ascend) on baritone guitar and vocals alongside Tyler Smith (Form of Rocket) on drums.

Eagle Twin’s music could be broadly classified as doom metal or sludge metal, but also touches on progressive rock, blues rock, jazz fusion and psychedelic rock, featuring lengthy instrumental passages driven around conceptual riffs. Unlike Densley’s previous project Iceburn which was primarily instrumental, Densley does sing in Eagle Twin, though often the vocals can be perceived as a third instrument be it gruff, raspy vocals, chanting or overtone singing.

To date Eagle Twin have released three albums and since releasing their first album in 2009 via Southern Lord Records have managed to tour Europe, Australia, New Zealand and North America. Eagle Twin cut their proverbial hen’s teeth touring extensively with Sunn 0))) all over the planet, and then with doom/drone pioneers, Earth. Their third LP for Southern Lord, The Thundering Heard (Songs Of Hoof And Horn) was released in 2018 and acclaimed as their best effort to date.

After a bit of a hibernation assisted by a global pandemic and Densley focusing on other projects like Iceburn’s Asclepius, also on Southern Lord, Eagle Twin has unleashed a split 12” LP on the Albuquerque based label Desert Records with Utah’s symphonic doom darlings, The Otolith (Ex-Subrosa), in Sept 2024 entitled Legends of the Desert Vol. 4. Of course this installment of the long standing LP series had to be heavy, for it is Vol. 4, and Eagle Twin brings the goods. an upcoming album will be delivered in 2025 on Southern Lord.
