Tempers is the project of New York–based singer-songwriter Jasmine Golestaneh, combining low-lit poetic synth-pop with resonances of techno, shoegaze, and post-punk. Her songwriting examines themes of interiority under pressure: coping mechanisms, desire, the disorienting process of healing, and the search for meaning in a world built to distract us.
The 2015 debut album, Services, features underground dance floor classic “Strange Harvest”. Tempers’ interdisciplinary approach has led to some unique collaborations, including the 2018 concept album Junkspace (BMG), featuring architect Rem Koolhaas. It was followed by acclaimed LPs Private Life (2019) and New Meaning (2022) on Dais Records. Her latest record, Delusion (2026), came with a capsule collection of bespoke T-shirts created with visual artist Camille Henrot, a remix by Sandra Mujinga, and a companion book, Remixed, in which writer Estelle Hoy reinterpreted the album’s lyrics into poetic fiction. The LP’s cover features Golestaneh’s own collage art, which has remained integral to Tempers’ visual identity. Delusion was co-produced by Golestaneh and Jorge Elbrecht (Sky Ferreira, Wild Nothing) and released on Tempers’ own imprint, Fear of Luxury, via Cascine / Secretly Distribution.
Tempers has performed at institutions such as The Andy Warhol Museum (Pittsburgh), ICA (London) and Kunstverein Gartenhaus (Vienna), and toured extensively across the international club circuit. She has shared stages with the likes of IDLES, Slowdive, Martin Rev, and performed at festivals including Levitation, Substance, Hipnosis and Grauzone.
Tempers has been featured in media like Artforum, Pitchfork, KEXP, The Fader and Metal Magazine. Electronic Sound described her music as “concrete under sodium light, a gothic disco in an abandoned subterranean shopping precinct.”
