Ghost Cop

Ghost Cop are a New York City–based electronic music duo formed by artists Lucy Swope and Sean Dack. Their sound blends elements of darkwave, post-punk, synth-pop, and horror soundtrack influences, drawing on both gritty underground electronic styles and cinematic motifs inspired by B-movies and genre cinema.

The project first gained attention with releases like End Credits (2020) and the single You Can Never Go Home (2021), showcasing haunting, atmospheric synth work and textured vocals layered over driving rhythms. Their music often pairs dystopian dance floor energy with cinematic storytelling, using vocals, synthesizers, and beats to evoke moody, evocative sound worlds.

Ghost Cop’s work frequently reflects their fascination with genre film and horror aesthetics. For example, their video for “ENHANCE” pays homage to low-budget sci-fi and horror films from the 1970s and 80s, drawing inspiration from classics like Evil Dead, Halloween, and later genre revivals like It Follows and Stranger Things.

In 2023, the band released the single A Shot in the Dark, built around atmospheric post-punk influences and accompanied by a self-directed video, with the duo exploring themes of cyclical patterns and psychological unease. Their sophomore full-length album TROUBLE arrived in 2024 via their own Observed Phenomena label, expanding their cinematic electronics and lyrical depth with more personal themes and adventurous production.

Beyond recordings, Ghost Cop often directs their own visuals and embraces horror and retro film culture, integrating gnarly synth textures with a compelling underground sensibility.
