Funebrarum were formed in April 1999 in Clifton, New Jersey by underground veterans vocalist Daryl Kahan (Citizens Arrest, ex-Assück, Born Against, Forced Expression), guitarist Nick Orlando (ex-Evoken), drummer Dario Derna (ex-Evoken, Infester) and bassist David Wagner (Evoken). Their sound blended dark American death metal with European and Scandinavian influences such as Bolt Thrower, Demigod and Abhorrence.

In 2001, the band released their debut album Beneath the Columns of Abandoned Godsthrough Necroharmonic Productions, earning global underground acclaim. After several active years and lineup changes, Daryl welcomed new members including guitarist Alex Bouks (Immolation) and drummer Shawn Eldridge. Their second album, The Sleep of Morbid Dreams, emerged in 2009 on Cyclone Empire, solidifying Funebrarum’s reputation and leading to successful European tours and festival appearances.

Following a period of inactivity due to members relocating, Daryl remained musically active with bands such as Disma, Spectral Prophecy and Darkened (ex-Necrophobic, Grave, Excruciate, Bolt Thrower). In 2015, he rebuilt Funebrarum after meeting guitarist Sam Osborne( Holder , Worm), forming a new lineup with Charles Koryn on drums (Incantation, Morbid Angel, Ascended Dead), Kyle Winslow on bass and Phil Tougas on guitar (Worm). This formation recorded the Exhumation of the Ancient EP in 2016 and toured Europe several times with bands such as Interment and Undergoing.

With artwork and layouts now completed, Beckoning the Void of Eternal Silence will finally be released in May 2026 on Pulverised Records. A split 7” EP with Finland’s Pestigore arrives in April 2026 on Morbid Wrath Records / Doomentia Records. Funebrarum make their live comeback with a full European tour.
